Transfer Postponed

Wow, it's been a month since the last time I updated! I really haven't had much to update since my surgery until recently though. I had just been waiting and waiting and waiting for a new cycle to begin, but it never did, so I finally made an appointment with my RE to have an ultrasound. The ultrasound revealed that I have a large cyst in my right ovary, which is why my period has been so delayed. My doctor said these are not uncommon after surgery and it will most likely shrink on it's own over time. He said it's nothing bad, it just means we will be doing some more waiting, as we will not be able to do our transfer this month. Nothing bad, just more waiting. I'm going to vent for the both of us for a moment, so bare with me...

WE ARE TIRED OF WAITING!!! It just stinks! Waiting is the hallmark of infertility--and just because we've been practicing this "art" for the past 3 years, doesn't make it any easier!

So, now that I've gotten that off my chest, our next opportunity to transfer our embryos will be in February. In the meantime, we will be waiting for my cyst to disappear, so that I can start a new cycle. We will probably have a cycle to try naturally before our transfer, so, January could be our miracle month!

We could use prayer, if you haven't already gathered that from my ranting above. Prayer for patience would be at the top of our list. Also, for this cyst to go away so that I can start a new cycle. Prayer for that new cycle as we attempt to start our family the old fashioned way. Anything is possible with God. We believe that wholeheartedly.

Even though I vented our frustrations above, I need to add that we do feel peace with knowing that the Lord has allowed the door to be closed this month. We aren't anxiously wondering if December will be our month, we know that we have to wait.

We do have some exciting things planned, which will help pass the time. Paul's birthday is on Thursday, Dec. 10th, and his parents are coming into town for dinner that evening! Then, Paul and I are going to Bend, Oregon to celebrate and relax for a couple of days. The forecast is for snow there, so we plan to enjoy it while we can with sledding by day and watching it fall by night while sipping hot cocoa by the fire. For Christmas, we will be heading to Spokane Dec. 20th through the 28th.

Again, we value your support and encouragement more than you know. We love reading your comments. Hope all is well with you.

All our love,
Gretchen & Paul

  1. Ugh! What a bummer that December isn't going to work. You have every right to be tired of waiting! Goodness. We'll just keep praying that the timing in Feb will be perfect.
